ECG Performance Metrics Mission Statement

Develop and support a baseline set of ECG Performance Metrics within the Biotechnology / Pharmaceutical industry with the intent to jointly encourage the sponsors, service providers and investigative sites in gaining performance improvement, effectiveness, efficiency, and appropriate levels of controls.

The MCC ECG Performance Metrics Steering Committee announces the release of MCC ECG Performance Metrics version 1.1 (summary) (full version posted on Member Home page)

The MCC ECG Performance Metrics (1.0) were released in late 2007 and the ECG Core Labs have begun to track and report results to sponsors. In order to facilitate the use of the metrics, the Steering Committee reconvened the ECG Implementation Work Group earlier this year to review the metrics.  The main focus of the review was to update the Benefit Statement / Business Driver description of each of the MCC ECG Performance Metrics. Our goal was to expand the benefit statements in order to help both sponsors and core labs to recognize the value and intended purpose of each metric. During the review process, the working group decided that in addition to updating the Benefit Statements, it would be helpful to create a new part to the metrics spreadsheet entitled, “Who’s Being Measured”. This section was added to clearly indicate that many of the metrics measure areas outside of the core labs control.

The MCC ECG Performance Metrics Steering Committee will begin reviewing the entire set of MCC ECG Performance Metrics later this year.  This review will focus on the existing metric definitions, their value or usefulness to end-users and whether any metrics should be added or removed. This review process should begin in the 2nd Quarter 2010. We look forward to working with you all in future on this or other initiatives.

Sincerely,

Steve Asbury, ECG Coordinator, Eli Lilly and Company
